Rumours about when the iPhone 7 will launch have been
circulating for months.
And now, one mobile phone leaker has predicted which week in
September Apple will release the phone to the market.
Evan Blass, today tweeted: 'iPhone 2016 release: week of
September 12th'.
The next iPhone will not come with an option to have 16GB of
storage, according to the latest rumours. Instead a 256GB version will be
coming out
|
The launch date has been suggested by mobile phone leaker
Evan Blass, who has accurately leaked images and details about other phones in
the past.
Mr Blass followed up his first tweet with a second, which
read: 'Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch
event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th.'
The mobile phone leaker, who is also a Mobile Reporter at
Venture Beat, is best known for leaking Android-based smartphone details.
His prediction of the launch date for Apple's newest phone
is in line with their previous announcements, such as the iPhone 6, which
launched in September 2015.
As well as the launch date, some rumours about
specifications have also been circulating.
Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported:
'Instead of 16GB as a starting point for the entry-level iPhone, the new
starting point will be 32GB, according to a person familiar with Apple’s iPhone
plans.'
As well as ditching the 16GB model, rumours suggest that
Apple will also be introducing a larger 256GB model.
NO MORE HOME BUTTON?
The latest leaks to hit the web last month appeared to
present the home button not as a button, but as a touch sensitive pad.
Sources say the new 'button' will be flush with the body of
the iPhone, instead of protruding from the bottom bezel.
In addition to a revamped home button, the images also
suggest that the lower and upper areas of the bezel are much narrower than the
iPhone 6 family, and the front camera and proximity sensor have both been
repositioned.
If this feature is implemented, users will have to perform
tapping actions to activate functions, like tap and hold for Siri or double tap
to see a specific category of apps.
But sources also say the Touch ID could be much smoother and
faster than the current method.
Additionally, the new iPhone is rumoured to have a faster
A10 processor, faster Wi-Fi, a larger battery and repositioned antenna
bands.
However, the biggest change that has been suggested by
leakers is the loss of the 3.5mm wired headphone jack on the bottom of the
iPhone 7.
Renders of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus came out earlier
this year, confirming what most iOS owners have speculated. Leaked blueprints
of the handsets reveal Apple could ditch the headphone jacks for both variants
and the 7 Plus will have a ‘superior’ dual lens camera
|
However, people on Twitter do not seem thrilled with the
suggested update.
User 'Wyatt' wrote: 'If Apple ditch headphone jacks on the
latest iPhone I'm never getting a new phone I'll ride out with a 6 for life.'
Other users suggested that Apple might be bringing out
wireless headphones, such as user 'Shallowgam3r', who wrote: 'If the iPhone 7
doesn't have a headphone jack, I'm gonna be very disappointed... Unless they're
giving us wireless headphones.'
Apple are yet to
respond to any of the rumours.
THE MOST RECENT IPHONE 7
One rumor has been debunked, which suggest there will be a
single speaker instead of the dual speaker setup users had hoped for. But one
thing that has stayed consistent is the dimension of both models, which were
first revealed last year.
The iPhone 7 picture suggests it will be 138.30x67.12x7.1mm
and the iPhone 7 Plus measures 158.22x77.94x7.3mm.
According to reports, the iPhone 7 will have a 3,100mAh
battery, which is 12.5 percent bigger than the iPhone 6S Plus.
But although your phone will stay powered longer, it could
also mean the casing around it could be thicker. What could be very exciting
for iOS users is that Apple might be fixing the annoying 'there is not enough
available storage…' issue with a 256GB this year.
Another annoying feature that might be on Apple's to-do list
is strengthening the phone's water-resistance.
This doesn't say the phone will be water-proof, but it could
make a world of a difference if you drop your phone in liquid
