Last year he said he'd rather 'slash his wrists' then return
to his role as James Bond.
And Daniel Craig's latest move appears to have confirmed he
is unlikely to reprise the coveted role as the 007 agent.
American cable channel Showtime confirmed on Thursday that
they have signed the 48-year-old actor up for 20 episodes of new US drama Purity.

Based on Jonathan Frantzen's novel of the same name, the
drama is due to run for a full series, with Daniel playing the male lead as
well executive producing.
According to US industry website Deadline the show, which is
billed as a 'morally complex story of youthful idealism, extreme loyalty and
cold-blooded murder', will begin production in 2017 and air in two parts over
the course of two years
Sources close to the star told website Variety that the deal
is a 'lucrative one' for the actor.
Announcing the news, Showtime president David Nevins said:
'Jonathan Franzen's 'Purity' is an epic American novel that pulses with the
energy of a psychological thriller. I whipped through it in a week.

'His gripping and timely story has attracted a powerhouse

taut, long-form, serialized storytelling that is the best of premium
television, and is precisely what we at Showtime aspire to deliver.'
Father-of-one Daniel is reportedly also finalising a deal to
co-star in Steven Soderbergh's new heist film Logan Lucky, which starts
production in the Autumn.
Despite returning to reprise his role as Bond for the fourth
time in Spectre, Daniel previously told Time Out that he would only return for
the money, adding: 'Now? I'd rather … slash my wrists.

'No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it
at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on.'
However the British actor then added this was would be for
the next year or two, explaining: 'I don't know what the next step is. I've no
idea. Not because I'm trying to be cagey. Who the f**k knows? At the moment,
we've done it. I'm not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did
another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.'
Currently The Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston is the
bookies' favourite to replace Daniel in his role as Bond.
